...of a mad (as in crazy, but not crazy as in wild, crazy as in weird) girl...

i'm taking linguistics and it made me think about ebonics and whether it could be considered a language. i guess based on linguistics it can be, since it has its own rules and stuff. but seriously, i could make my own language up if that's the case. it's so weird, because i had this friend in middle school and when we hung out, she used plain english, but whenever she hung out with other people, she used ebonics. i guess from my view i see it as bad grammar, but i guess i could be wrong. i guess people could consider something like "i be eating this ice cream" as correct. could it be a cultural thing? i think if you speak ebonics and you really don't know proper english, then you're kinda screwing yourself because i don't think people will take you seriously professionally. you don't really hear people in the nyse saying "that be my stock foo!" i also don't understand why black people use the word "niggah" to refer to each other sometimes. i thought it was supposed to be a derogatory term, wouldn't you be perpetuating negative stereotypes and degrading your own race by using that word? it's not as if white people call each other "cracker" and think it's cool. our culture is weird.
